What is laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal uses light energy absorbed by the pigment in the hair to heat and disable the follicle, so hair grows back finer, slower and sparser. Most patients need about 5–8 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart, with no downtime.
The laser light passes through the skin and is absorbed by melanin in the hair shaft and root. The heat damages the parts of the follicle that produce new hair. Only follicles in the active growth phase respond, which is why a series of sessions is needed to catch each hair at the right time.
Results are best on dark, coarse hair. Blonde, red, grey and white hair contain little or no pigment and usually respond poorly. Laser hair removal gives long-term reduction rather than a guarantee that every hair is gone; occasional maintenance sessions are common, especially on hormone-sensitive areas such as the chin.
Who it suits
- Dark, coarse hair on the face, underarms, legs or bikini line
- Ingrown hairs and razor bumps from frequent shaving
- People tired of waxing or plucking
- Patients who can return every 4–6 weeks, or plan sessions around trips
Who should wait or choose another option
- White, grey, very light blonde or red hair, which lacks the pigment the laser needs
- A fresh tan, recent sunburn or self-tanner on the area
- Pregnancy, active skin infection, or a sudden increase in hair growth that has not been checked by a doctor

Your treatment day
- Doctor consultation. We check your skin tone, hair colour and any medication, and agree the areas.
- Preparation. The area should be shaved 24 hours before; we clean it and mark the zones.
- Test and settings. The doctor chooses energy and pulse settings for your skin and hair.
- Laser treatment. Each pulse feels like a quick snap with heat; the tip is cooled for comfort.
- Soothing and sunscreen. We apply a calming cream; most patients go straight back to their day.
Aftercare
- Use broad-spectrum sunscreen on treated skin every day
- Shaving between sessions is fine; avoid waxing, plucking and threading
- Skip hot baths, saunas and intense workouts for about 24 hours
- Expect treated hairs to shed over 1–3 weeks
Possible side effects
Temporary redness, small bumps around the follicles and mild sensitivity are common and usually settle within hours to a day. Less often, blistering or temporary darkening or lightening of the skin can occur, especially on tanned or darker skin, which is why settings are adjusted for each patient.

Frequently asked questions
How many laser hair removal sessions do I need?
Most areas need about 5–8 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart, because hair grows in cycles and only actively growing hairs respond. Some patients need occasional top-ups afterwards.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
It gives long-term hair reduction rather than guaranteed permanent removal. Remaining hair is usually finer and lighter, and hormone-sensitive areas such as the chin may need maintenance.
Does it hurt?
Most patients describe a quick snap and warmth, similar to a rubber band. The tip is cooled, and sensitive areas such as the bikini line can feel stronger.
Can I do laser hair removal while visiting Seoul?
Yes, a single session fits easily into a trip because there is no downtime. A full course needs repeat visits, so many visitors start in Seoul and continue at home or on their next trip.
Does it work on light or grey hair?
Usually not well. The laser targets pigment, so white, grey, light blonde and red hair respond poorly. The doctor will tell you honestly at consultation.
Is the price the same for foreigners?
Yes. Korean and international patients pay the same price, and an English-speaking coordinator helps with booking. VAT of 10% is added at payment.
