The short answer

What is laser tattoo removal?

Laser tattoo removal uses very short, high-energy laser pulses to shatter tattoo ink into tiny particles, which the immune system then gradually removes. Most tattoos need 5–10 sessions spaced 6–8 weeks apart, and some colours may only fade rather than disappear.

Tattoo ink sits in the dermis as particles too large for the body to remove. A tattoo-removal laser delivers extremely short pulses that heat and fracture these particles. Over the following weeks, immune cells carry the fragments away through the lymphatic system, so the tattoo fades between sessions rather than on the day.

How many sessions you need depends on ink colour, density, depth, age of the tattoo, location and your skin tone. Black and dark blue usually respond best. Green, light blue, yellow and white are harder, and some cosmetic tattoos containing white or flesh-toned ink can darken when treated, so a test spot may be advised.

Who should wait or choose another option

Your visit

Your treatment day

  1. Doctor consultation. We look at ink colours, depth and skin tone and estimate the number of sessions.
  2. Numbing. Numbing cream is applied for comfort on most tattoos.
  3. Laser treatment. The doctor passes the laser over the ink; the area may turn white briefly.
  4. Dressing. We cool the skin and apply ointment and a protective dressing.
  5. Healing and review. The area heals over 1–2 weeks and keeps fading until the next session.

Aftercare

  • Keep the area clean, apply ointment and cover it for the first days
  • Do not pick blisters or scabs
  • Avoid hot baths, saunas, swimming and intense workouts for about 48 hours
  • Protect the area from the sun between sessions

Possible side effects

Redness, swelling, pinpoint bleeding, blistering and scabbing are common and usually settle within days to two weeks. Temporary lightening or darkening of the skin, incomplete removal and, rarely, scarring or texture change can occur. Cosmetic inks can darken.

Frequently asked questions

How many sessions does tattoo removal take?

Most tattoos need about 5–10 sessions spaced 6–8 weeks apart, and multicoloured or dense professional tattoos can need more. The doctor gives an estimate after seeing the ink.

Can every tattoo be removed completely?

Not always. Black ink usually fades well, while some colours such as yellow, white and light green may only lighten. We tell you honestly before you start.

Does laser tattoo removal hurt?

It feels like quick rubber-band snaps with heat. Numbing cream and cooling make it manageable for most patients.

Can I start tattoo removal on a short trip to Seoul?

Yes. A session takes under an hour and most people go about their day afterwards, but you need to care for the area for 1–2 weeks and plan repeat sessions every 6–8 weeks.

Can eyebrow tattoos be removed?

Often yes, but some cosmetic pigments contain white or iron-oxide ink that can darken with laser. We usually do a small test spot first.

Is the price the same for foreigners?

Yes. Korean and international patients pay the same price, and an English-speaking coordinator helps with booking. VAT of 10% is added at payment.
