What is lip filler?
Lip filler is a soft hyaluronic acid gel injected into the lips to add volume, define the border or correct asymmetry. Treatment takes about 20–30 minutes, swelling usually settles within 1–2 weeks, and results typically last 6–12 months.
Lip fillers are softer and more flexible than fillers used on the cheeks or chin, so they move naturally when you talk and smile. The doctor can place filler in the body of the lip for volume, along the border for definition, in the cupid's bow for shape, or at the corners to lift a downturned mouth. Many products also attract water, so lips look more hydrated.
A natural result depends on proportion. In general, the lower lip is slightly fuller than the upper, and small amounts placed precisely often look better than one large syringe. If you want more volume, we usually build it up across two visits so the tissue can adapt.

Your treatment day
- Doctor consultation. We discuss the shape you want and look at your lips and profile together.
- Numbing. Numbing cream for about 20 minutes; the filler also contains lidocaine.
- Product check. The sealed syringe is shown and opened in front of you.
- Injection and shaping. Small amounts are placed and shaped, checking balance as you sit up.
- Review. You check the result in the mirror and receive aftercare advice.
Aftercare
- Expect swelling and tenderness, worst in the first 48 hours
- Use a cold pack gently and avoid pressing on the lips
- Avoid kissing, saunas and alcohol for about 1–2 days
- Judge the final shape at 2 weeks, once swelling has gone
Possible side effects
Swelling, tenderness and bruising are common and usually settle within days to two weeks. Lip filler can trigger a cold sore in people prone to them, and rare risks include lumps, infection and blocked blood vessels, which need urgent care.

Frequently asked questions
How much does lip filler cost in Seoul?
It depends on the product and the amount used. Send us a photo on Instagram for an exact quote in English; prices exclude 10% VAT and are the same for all patients.
Does lip filler hurt?
The lips are sensitive, so we use numbing cream and fillers containing lidocaine. Most patients rate it as uncomfortable rather than painful.
How long does lip filler last?
Usually 6–12 months, as the lips move constantly. Many people top up once or twice a year.
Will my lips look swollen on my flight home?
Swelling peaks in the first 1–2 days. We suggest treatment at least 3–4 days before flying and avoiding big events for a week.
I get cold sores. Can I still have lip filler?
Yes, but tell the doctor. We may suggest an antiviral before treatment, and we will not inject during an active cold sore.
Can lip filler be reversed?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if you are unhappy with the shape.
