The short answer

What is skin whitening?

Skin whitening at a clinic means brightening: reducing excess melanin, dullness and uneven tone so the skin looks clearer, rather than changing your natural skin colour. Most patients notice a change after 2–3 sessions, with little or no downtime.

Uneven tone comes from melanin produced in response to sun, inflammation, hormones and ageing, plus dull surface cells and dehydration. Brightening treatments work on several of these at once: low-energy laser toning breaks up scattered pigment, tranexamic acid and vitamin C calm melanin production, and gentle exfoliation removes dull surface cells.

Results depend on the cause. Sun spots and post-acne marks often respond well; melasma is hormonal and tends to recur, so it needs a slower, gentler plan and long-term sun protection. Hydrating skin boosters and glutathione can support the result, but no treatment permanently changes your genetic skin tone.

Who it suits

  • Dull, tired-looking skin and uneven tone
  • Sun spots, freckles and post-acne marks
  • Mild melasma, treated gently and gradually
  • Before an event, as part of a short series

Who should wait or choose another option

  • Anyone wanting to change their natural skin colour: this is not the aim
  • A new or changing dark spot that has not been checked by a dermatologist
  • Pregnancy, a fresh tan or active skin irritation in the area

Your visit

Your treatment day

  1. Doctor consultation. We identify the type of pigment and check for melasma.
  2. Cleansing. Make-up removal and gentle cleansing.
  3. Treatment. Laser toning, a light peel or infusion, as planned for you.
  4. Calming care. A soothing mask and sunscreen.
  5. Plan. We set the interval for the next session and advise on home care.

Aftercare

  • Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen, reapplied outdoors
  • Avoid tanning, saunas and hot baths for 24–48 hours
  • Gentle skincare; pause strong acids for a few days
  • Keep up the series; pigment returns faster without sun protection

Possible side effects

Mild redness or sensitivity is common and usually settles within 1–2 days. Over-aggressive treatment can cause rebound darkening or uneven light patches, which is why we use conservative settings and space sessions.

Frequently asked questions

Will skin whitening change my skin colour?

No. The aim is to remove excess pigment and dullness so your own skin tone looks clearer and more even, not to make you a different colour.

How many sessions do I need?

Most patients see a difference after 2–3 sessions, with fuller results over a series. Melasma usually needs more sessions and ongoing maintenance.

Is there downtime?

Usually none or very little. Mild redness typically settles within a day or two, and most patients return to work the same day.

Can melasma be cured?

Melasma can be improved and controlled, but it often recurs with sun, heat and hormones. Gentle treatment and daily sunscreen are key.

Can I do a brightening treatment on a short trip?

Yes. One or two sessions fit into a trip, and we give you a home-care plan to maintain results after you fly home.

Is the price the same for foreigners?

Yes. Korean and international patients pay the same price, and an English-speaking coordinator helps with booking. VAT of 10% is added at payment.
