How to Fix Frown Lines (Glabella Lines) in Seoul
Frown lines are the vertical '11' lines between the eyebrows. They can make you look tense or tired when you are not. Our physicians relax the muscles that pull the brows together and, where lines are etched, rebuild the skin.

What causes frown lines?
Frown lines (glabellar lines) are caused by the corrugator and procerus muscles pulling the brows together and down when you frown, squint or concentrate. Botox is the main treatment and usually softens them within 1–2 weeks; lines etched at rest may also need a skin booster or very careful filler.
Two small muscles, the corrugators, draw the brows together, and the procerus pulls the space between them downward. Concentrating at a screen, squinting in bright light or habitually frowning folds the skin into vertical creases, sometimes with a horizontal line across the top of the nose.
In younger skin the lines vanish when the face relaxes. With time and collagen loss they become permanent grooves. Relaxing the muscles stops the folding, and the skin can slowly recover; deep grooves may need extra help to rebuild the skin underneath.
Signs these treatments can help
- Vertical '11' lines when you frown or concentrate
- Lines that now stay when your face is relaxed
- People often ask if you are tired or annoyed
- You want a softer look without losing expression
When to see a specialist first
- Pregnancy, breastfeeding or a neuromuscular condition
- Frequent headaches or vision strain that make you squint: have your eyes checked
- Previous filler problems between the brows, as this area needs extra caution
Four reasons frown lines form
Corrugator muscles
They pull the brows together and fold the skin vertically.
Procerus muscle
Pulls the brows down and adds a line across the nose.
Squinting and screens
Concentration and bright light trigger frowning all day.
Collagen loss
Thinner skin lets the creases remain at rest.

How we treat frown lines at our clinic
- Assessment. The doctor watches you frown to see how strongly each muscle pulls.
- Plan. A Botox dose matched to your muscles, plus skin treatment for etched lines.
- Preparation. The skin is cleaned; ice or numbing cream if you prefer.
- Treatment. A few precise injections between and above the brows.
- Review. We check at 2 weeks by photo and fine-tune next time.
What to expect
- Stay upright and avoid rubbing for a few hours
- Skip saunas and intense exercise that day
- Effect starts in 3–5 days, full by about 2 weeks
- Repeat roughly every 3–4 months
Possible side effects
Small bruises, mild headache or, rarely, a temporary drooping eyelid can occur after Botox. Filler between the brows carries a higher risk of vessel blockage, so we use it only when needed and with great care.
