What causes a double chin?
A double chin is fullness under the chin caused by submental fat, loose skin, or both, and sometimes by a small chin or jaw shape. Non-surgical options such as ONDA, fat-dissolving injections and skin tightening reduce fat and firm the skin gradually over several sessions.
Fat under the chin is partly genetic, and many people keep it even at a healthy weight. With age, skin under the jaw loses elasticity and the neck muscles loosen, so the area starts to sag. Posture, such as long hours looking down at a phone, makes it more noticeable but is not the root cause.
Bone structure plays a role too. A short or set-back chin, or a low hyoid bone, gives the neck less definition no matter how little fat there is. How we treat a double chin at our clinic
