How to Fix Jowls in Seoul: Non-Surgical Options
Jowls blur the jawline when skin loosens and fat gathers along the lower face. Our physicians decide whether you need lifting, fat reduction or both, then use ultrasound, microwave energy or threads to restore a clean line.
ONDA Lifting Official Certified Center · Updated October 2026
What causes jowls?
Jowls form when the skin and SMAS support layer loosen and fat slides or gathers along the jaw, often with bone loss at the chin. Ultherapy lifts the support layer, ONDA reduces excess fat, and threads reposition tissue, so most patients see a cleaner jawline without surgery.
Ligaments hold the cheek and jaw tissue in place. With age they loosen, and the SMAS layer and the skin above it stretch, so tissue drops down below the jaw line. Fat pads in the lower cheek may also grow or slide, creating a soft bulge in front of the jaw.
The jaw bone itself loses some height and the chin may recede, which reduces support. Some people also carry genetic fullness in this area from their twenties. Jowl treatment works best when it matches the cause: lifting for laxity, fat reduction for fullness, or both together.
Signs these treatments can help
- The jawline is no longer straight from ear to chin
- Soft bulges beside the chin or mouth corners
- Fullness under the jaw in side-view photos
- You want a sharper jawline without surgery
When to see a specialist first
- Very loose, hanging skin, where a surgical facelift or neck lift gives a more reliable result
- A new lump or swelling along the jaw or under the chin: see your doctor first
- Pregnancy, metal implants in the area, or active infection
Four reasons jowls develop
Loosening ligaments
Supports that hold the lower cheek in place relax with age.
Lax SMAS and skin
The deep layer and skin stretch, letting tissue drop.
Fat gathering
Lower-cheek fat slides or builds up in front of the jaw.
Bone loss
Jaw and chin bones lose height and give less support.

Frequently asked questions
Can jowls be fixed without surgery?
Mild to moderate jowls usually improve with ultrasound lifting, fat reduction or threads. Heavy, hanging jowls generally need surgery for a reliable result.
Ultherapy or ONDA for jowls?
Ultherapy lifts loose tissue; ONDA reduces fat. If your jowls are both loose and full, the doctor may combine them.
How much does jowl treatment cost?
ONDA starts at ₩650,000, Ultherapy at ₩390,000 per 100 shots and D-Jamber threads at ₩1,200,000, excluding VAT.
How long do results last?
Device lifting typically lasts around a year; fat reduced by ONDA tends to stay reduced if your weight is stable.
Can I treat jowls on a short trip to Seoul?
Yes. Device treatments have no downtime, so you can travel the same day. Allow a few days after threads in case of bruising.
