What causes eye bags?
Eye bags are sagging or swelling under the lower eyelids caused by loosening skin, fat pushing forward and fluid collecting in the area. Non-surgical treatments firm the skin and smooth the transition to the cheek, which suits mild to moderate bags; larger bags usually need lower eyelid surgery.
As we age, the skin of the lower lid stretches and the small muscle beneath it weakens. The fat that cushions the eye can then push forward, and the cheek below gradually loses volume and descends. Together these create a pouch with a shadow underneath. Genetics decides much of the timing, which is why some people have bags in their twenties.
Fluid adds a changeable layer on top: bags often look worse in the morning, after salty food or alcohol, or during allergy season. Non-surgical care improves the skin and the contour around the bag, so it looks less heavy. It does not remove fat, so we explain realistic expectations before planning any treatment.

How we treat eye bags at our clinic
- Doctor consultation. We assess skin laxity, fat, cheek volume and fluid, and discuss whether surgery would suit you better.
- Tightening. Eye Thermage or Velluti Eye firms the lower lid and surrounding skin.
- Skin quality. Eye Rejuran, Ultracol or Re2O Fine thicken thin, crepey skin.
- Contour. Where suitable, a small amount of filler or thread support softens the line to the cheek.
- Review. We check results once collagen has built, usually after 2–3 months.
Aftercare
- Sleep with your head slightly raised
- Limit salt and alcohol, especially in the evening
- Avoid rubbing the eyes for a few days
- Use sunscreen and sunglasses daily
Possible side effects
Swelling and bruising are common for a few days after injections or threads. Filler placed near a bag can make puffiness worse if overused, so our doctors use it sparingly. Specific risks are explained at consultation.

Frequently asked questions
Can eye bags be removed without surgery?
Mild to moderate eye bags can look noticeably smaller with tightening, boosters and careful contouring. The fat itself can only be removed or repositioned surgically.
How much does non-surgical eye bag treatment cost?
Under-eye treatments start at ₩250,000 for Eye Rejuran 1cc. Eye Thermage with Eye Rejuran and under-eye Botox is ₩1,300,000, VAT excluded.
How long do results last?
Tightening and booster results usually last around a year, sometimes longer, and maintenance sessions help as ageing continues.
Do you perform eyelid surgery?
No. We are a non-surgical clinic and will tell you honestly if surgery with an oculoplastic or plastic surgeon would suit you better.
What is the difference between eye bags and puffy eyes?
Puffy eyes are mainly fluid that changes through the day. Eye bags are structural and stay, though fluid can make them look worse.
Can I have treatment on a short trip?
Yes. Eye Thermage is one session, and most patients travel the next day. Allow for possible bruising after injections.
