How to Fix Enlarged Pores in Seoul: Doctor-Led Options

Pores look larger when they fill with oil, lose the firm skin that supports them, or sit within acne scars. Our physicians target the main cause, reducing oil, tightening the surrounding skin or resurfacing scars, for a smoother look.

The short answer

What causes enlarged pores?

Enlarged pores are visible openings of the oil glands, most often on the nose and cheeks, caused by excess oil, loss of skin firmness around the pore and acne scarring. Pores cannot be closed, but they can look clearly smaller with oil control, collagen support and resurfacing over 3–5 sessions.

Each pore is the opening of a hair follicle with an oil gland. Pore size is partly genetic and tends to be larger where oil glands are active, such as the nose and central cheeks. When oil and dead cells collect, the opening stretches and darkens, so the pore looks bigger.

With age, the collagen ring that holds each pore firm weakens and the skin sags slightly, so pores on the cheeks turn oval or tear-drop shaped. Acne can also leave pores with scarred, uneven edges. That is why one treatment does not fit all: Skin Botox reduces oil, boosters and lasers rebuild support, and resurfacing smooths scarred pores.

Signs these treatments can help

  • Visible pores on the nose and central cheeks
  • Oval or tear-drop pores on the cheeks
  • Pores that look worse when the skin is oily
  • Make-up settles into pores by midday

When to see a specialist first

  • Active, inflamed acne, which should be treated first (see acne treatment)
  • A single enlarged, changing or bleeding spot, which needs a dermatologist to check it
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding, when Skin Botox and most injectables are postponed
Common causes

Why pores look enlarged

1

Excess oil

Active oil glands stretch the pore opening.

2

Loss of firmness

Weaker collagen around the pore lets it sag and widen.

3

Clogging

Oil and dead cells collect and darken the pore.

4

Acne scarring

Past breakouts leave pores with uneven, scarred edges.

How we treat enlarged pores at our clinic

  1. Skin analysis. The doctor checks oiliness, pore shape, scarring and sensitivity.
  2. Clear the pores. A deep-cleansing facial or peel removes debris that makes pores look larger.
  3. Reduce oil. Skin Botox is placed in the upper skin to reduce oil and refine pores.
  4. Rebuild support. Juvelook Skin, Rejuran or laser resurfacing strengthens the skin around each pore.
  5. Maintain. We plan the session interval and a simple home routine with oil control and sunscreen.

Aftercare

  • Avoid rubbing the face for 4 hours after Skin Botox
  • Use a gentle, non-comedogenic moisturiser
  • Wear sunscreen every day
  • Avoid squeezing or extracting pores at home

Possible side effects

Injections can leave small bumps or bruises for a few days. Lasers and peels can cause redness and light flaking. Pores can look smaller, but they cannot be removed completely.

Frequently asked questions

Can enlarged pores be closed permanently?

No treatment closes pores, but they can look clearly smaller. Maintenance helps keep the result.

How fast does Skin Botox work on pores?

Oil reduction and a smoother look usually show within 1–2 weeks and last about 3–4 months.

What about pores on the nose?

Nose pores are mostly oil-related, so cleansing, peels and Skin Botox help most.

Is there downtime?

Usually little for injections. Laser resurfacing can mean several days of redness and fine flaking.

How much does it cost?

Skin Botox is ₩300,000 with a Korean-made toxin or ₩500,000 with Xeomin, excluding VAT. Foreigners pay the same published price.
