Eye Thermage in Korea: Tightening Hooded Eyelids Without Surgery
This is a subtitle for your new post

Eye Thermage uses a dedicated Thermage FLX eye tip to heat and tighten the thin skin of the upper and lower eyelids, which can lift mildly hooded lids without surgery. It suits early hooding and crepey skin rather than heavy excess skin, and there is no cut, no stitches and usually no downtime. Clinics in Seoul often combine it with under-eye treatments for a more complete result.
| What it treats | Mild upper-lid hooding, crepey lids, fine lines, early crow's feet |
|---|---|
| Technology | Monopolar RF with a small dedicated eye tip |
| Eye protection | Protective shields placed over the eyes during treatment |
| Downtime | Usually none; mild puffiness possible for a short time |
| Result timeline | Some firming soon after; main change over 2–6 months |
| Not a substitute for | Surgical eyelid lift when there is a lot of excess skin |
Why eyelids start to look hooded
The eyelid has some of the thinnest skin on the body. With age, collagen and elastin fall, and the skin loses its spring. Gravity, sun exposure and repeated eye movement add to this over time.
The result is a soft fold of skin that rests closer to the lash line, making the eyes look tired or smaller. Some people also notice the brow dropping slightly, which pushes more skin down onto the lid. Hooding can be partly genetic, so it may appear early in some people.
How Eye Thermage tightens the lids
Eye Thermage works on the same principle as facial Thermage FLX, scaled down for delicate skin. A smaller tip delivers radiofrequency energy in controlled pulses around the upper lid, lower lid and outer corners.
- Immediate contraction. Heat tightens existing collagen, which can firm the lid soon after treatment.
- New collagen. Over the following months, the skin builds new collagen, gradually improving firmness and texture.
- Surrounding support. Treating the brow bone area and outer eye can help the upper lid sit a little higher.
Before treatment, protective eye shields are placed to keep the eyes safe from the energy. This is a standard step, and you should expect it.
Who is a good candidate?
Eye Thermage tends to work best when the problem is skin quality rather than a large amount of extra skin.
- Good fit: mild hooding, crepey or wrinkled lids, fine lines and early crow's feet, or makeup that creases on the lid.
- Possible fit: moderate hooding, with a realistic expectation of a subtle change.
- Less suitable: heavy folds that rest on the lashes, skin that blocks vision, or marked fat bulging. These usually need a surgical assessment.
A doctor should also check your eye health, previous eye surgery and any implanted electronic device before treatment. Pregnancy and active infection around the eye are also reasons to wait.
Eye Thermage vs eyelid surgery
Upper eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) removes excess skin, and sometimes fat, through an incision in the natural crease. It gives a more dramatic and lasting change, but it involves recovery time, swelling and bruising, and a small scar.
Eye Thermage does not remove anything. It tightens what is there. For people with early hooding who are not ready for surgery, it can be a gentle first step. For people with significant excess skin, surgery is usually the more effective option, and an honest doctor will say so.
What happens during treatment
- Assessment. The doctor looks at the lid fold, brow position, under-eye area and skin thickness.
- Numbing. Numbing cream is applied around the eyes and removed before treatment.
- Eye shields. Protective shields are placed over the eyes.
- Treatment. The eye tip is applied in small, careful passes across the lids and outer eye area. Most people feel brief warmth.
- Aftercare. Shields are removed and you can usually go back to your day. Mild puffiness or redness tends to settle quickly.
Avoid rubbing the eyes, very hot showers and saunas for a few days. Wear sunglasses and use sunscreen around the eye area. Ask your doctor when you can wear contact lenses and eye makeup again.
Combining Eye Thermage with under-eye treatments
The upper lid is only one part of a tired-looking eye area. Thin under-eye skin, fine lines and hollows often need a different approach. Many clinics in Seoul pair Eye Thermage with treatments that work on skin quality or volume.
- Eye Rejuran. Polynucleotide injections designed for the delicate under-eye skin.
- Elravie Re2O Fine. A collagen booster used for eyelids and under-eyes.
- Under-eye Botox. Small doses to soften fine lines, used carefully.
- Under-eye filler. For hollows, when volume rather than tightening is the main issue.
One published package at Cheongdam clinics combines Eye Thermage (225 shots), Corage Glove, Eye Rejuran and under-eye Botox at around ₩1,300,000. Separately, Eye Rejuran 1cc is published at around ₩250,000. Prices are excl. 10% VAT, as of late 2026; check current prices.
