Dark Circles Treatment in Seoul: Doctor-Led Care
Dark circles are not one condition. Brown pigment, visible veins, thin skin and hollow shadows each need a different approach. Our doctors find which type you have before suggesting boosters, filler, tightening or pigment care.

What causes dark circles?
Dark circles are caused by under-eye pigment, blood vessels showing through thin skin, or shadows from a hollow tear trough, and most people have a mix. Treatment depends on the type: boosters for thin skin, filler for hollows, and gentle pigment care for brown discolouration.
Brown circles are usually pigment, common in darker skin types, and can be worsened by sun, rubbing and allergies. Blue or purple circles come from blood vessels showing through thin, translucent skin. Shadow-type circles are not colour at all: a groove under the eye catches less light, so it looks dark, and this often becomes more obvious with age as the cheek loses volume.
A quick test helps: if the darkness disappears when you look up into a light, it is mostly shadow. If it stays and is brown, it is pigment; if it looks bluish and gets darker when you are tired, it is likely vascular. Because many people have two or three types together, the best results usually come from combining treatments rather than relying on one.
Signs these treatments can help
- A hollow groove under the eyes that casts a shadow
- Thin, bluish skin where veins show through
- Light brown discolouration under the eyes
- You look tired even after a full night's sleep
When to see a specialist first
- Sudden darkening, swelling or one-sided changes around the eye: see a doctor to rule out allergy, thyroid or other medical causes
- Dark circles with chronic itching or eczema, which should be treated medically first
- A large bulge under the eye: see under eye bulging
The four types of dark circles
Pigmented
Brown colour from extra melanin, often inherited or sun-related.
Vascular
Bluish veins showing through thin, translucent skin.
Structural
Shadows from a tear-trough hollow or bulge.
Thin skin
Collagen loss makes the colour underneath more visible.

How we treat dark circles at our clinic
- Doctor consultation. We check the colour and shadow under different lighting to identify your type or types.
- Hollows. A conservative amount of under-eye filler can soften a tear-trough shadow.
- Thin skin. Eye Rejuran, Ultracol or Re2O Fine thicken the skin so vessels show less.
- Pigment. Gentle brightening or pigment care is planned carefully to avoid irritation.
- Course and follow-up. Most plans combine 2–3 approaches over a few sessions, with Instagram follow-up.
Aftercare
- Avoid rubbing the eyes
- Use sunscreen and sunglasses every day
- Sleep slightly elevated the first night after injections
- Treat allergies and hay fever, which worsen dark circles
Possible side effects
Bruising and mild swelling are common after under-eye injections and usually fade within a week. Filler placed too superficially can cause a bluish tint, so technique and product choice matter. Pigment treatments can irritate thin skin if too strong.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best treatment for dark circles?
There is no single best treatment because dark circles have different causes. Hollows respond to filler, thin skin to boosters, and pigment to brightening care; many patients need a combination.
How much does dark circle treatment cost?
Eye Rejuran 1cc is ₩250,000 and Re2O Fine is ₩600,000 per session, VAT excluded. Under-eye filler and pigment care are priced after consultation.
Can dark circles be removed permanently?
Genetic pigment and thin skin can be improved but not usually removed for good. Results from boosters and filler last months to over a year, and maintenance helps.
Is under-eye filler safe?
In experienced hands and small amounts it is generally safe. Bruising and swelling are common; rare vascular risks are explained at consultation.
Can I have treatment during a short trip?
Yes. Most under-eye treatments need little downtime. Allow for possible bruising if you have photos or events soon after.
Will more sleep fix my dark circles?
Sleep helps fluid-related puffiness, but it will not change inherited pigment, thin skin or a tear-trough hollow.
