What causes a puffy face?
A puffy face is usually caused by fluid retention (salt, alcohol, poor sleep or hormones), excess facial fat, or enlarged jaw muscles, and sometimes by medical conditions. When fat or muscle is the cause, ONDA, Titanium with a fat-dissolving booster or jaw Botox can slim the face; fluid-related puffiness is best treated through its cause.
Morning puffiness that improves during the day is mostly fluid. Salty food, alcohol, short sleep, allergies and hormonal changes all make the face hold water. This type does not need a procedure; it responds to lifestyle changes, and persistent swelling needs a medical check.
Puffiness that is always there, even in the evening, is usually fat in the cheeks and jaw, or a large masseter muscle from clenching or chewing. These respond to treatment: microwave energy can reduce fat, lifting tightens the skin over it, and Botox can slim a bulky jaw muscle over a few months.
