How to Get Even Skin Tone in Korea: A Doctor's Plan
Uneven tone usually comes from three colours: brown pigment, red vessels and grey dullness. Our doctors identify which ones you have, treat them gently and support the skin with boosters so it stays calm.

What is an even skin tone?
Even skin tone means the face reads as one consistent colour, without noticeable brown spots, red patches or grey, dull areas. Most unevenness comes from sun-induced pigment, post-acne marks, visible vessels or slow cell turnover. A realistic plan treats each colour separately, usually over three to five sessions, with daily sunscreen throughout.
Brown unevenness comes from melanin: sun spots, freckles, post-acne marks and melasma. Red unevenness comes from dilated vessels and inflammation, often around the nose and cheeks. Grey or sallow areas come from a slow turnover of surface cells. Each colour sits at a different depth and responds to a different treatment, which is why one cream rarely evens everything.
Pigment is treated with lasers or brightening care, redness with vascular-targeted lasers and calming, and dullness with gentle resurfacing. Boosters such as Rejuran do not remove pigment, but they help the skin recover and stay less reactive, which matters because irritated skin can produce new pigment, especially in Asian skin types.
Who this plan suits
- Sun spots or freckles that have become more noticeable
- Red or brown marks left after breakouts
- Redness around the nose and cheeks
- A sallow or patchy complexion under natural light
When to fix something else first
- A new, changing or irregular dark spot: have it checked by a dermatologist first
- Melasma that flares easily, which needs a slow, specialised plan
- Persistent flushing with bumps, which may be rosacea needing medical care (see facial redness)
What makes skin tone uneven
Brown pigment
Sun spots, freckles and post-acne marks caused by excess melanin.
Redness
Dilated vessels and inflammation that make cheeks and nose look flushed.
Dullness
Old surface cells that give skin a grey or sallow cast.
Reactive skin
A weak barrier that turns irritation into new marks.

Your even-tone plan at our clinic
- Colour assessment. The doctor separates brown, red and dull areas and checks for melasma.
- Pigment. Laser treatments or skin whitening care on gentle settings for your skin type.
- Redness. Vascular-targeted settings and calming care for flushed areas.
- Barrier support. Rejuran helps the skin recover between sessions and stay less reactive.
- Prevention. Sunscreen and a brightening routine to stop new pigment forming.
Keeping tone even
- Broad-spectrum sunscreen every day, reapplied outdoors
- A hat and shade in strong sun
- No harsh scrubs or DIY peels
- Report any darkening after laser so we can adjust
Possible side effects
Lasers can cause temporary redness, small crusts on spots for about a week, and in some skin types temporary darkening. Boosters may leave small bumps for a day or two. Melasma can return, so maintenance is usually needed.

Frequently asked questions
How many sessions do I need for even skin tone?
Pigment usually needs 3–5 laser sessions spaced several weeks apart. Redness and dullness often improve sooner.
How much does it cost?
Laser and brightening treatments are priced at consultation after the doctor sees your skin. Rejuran starts at ₩300,000 for 2cc, excluding 10% VAT.
Can lasers make my pigment worse?
They can if settings are too strong, especially in Asian skin or with melasma. That is why our doctors start conservatively and adjust.
Do skin boosters lighten pigment?
Not directly. They improve skin health and resilience, which supports a pigment plan but does not replace it.
Can I do laser before flying home?
Usually yes for gentle settings, but spots may crust for about a week and you must protect skin from sun on the trip. We plan this with you.
