The short answer

What causes uneven skin texture?

Uneven skin texture means a surface that looks or feels bumpy, pitted or irregular, usually from acne scars, enlarged pores, sun damage or collagen loss. It improves best with treatments that rebuild collagen and resurface the skin, such as Juvelook Skin, Rejuran, Fraxel and microneedling, over several sessions.

Smooth skin reflects light evenly. When the surface has dips from old acne scars, stretched pores, fine lines or patches of thickened skin, light scatters and the face looks uneven even under make-up. Collagen loss with age, past inflammation and sun damage all weaken the structure that keeps the surface flat.

Texture problems sit at different depths. Shallow roughness can respond to peels and hydration, while scars and enlarged pores need collagen remodelling deeper in the dermis. That is why we usually combine a resurfacing treatment with a booster that supports repair, and plan a course rather than a single session.

Signs these treatments can help

  • Shallow acne scars or pitted areas on the cheeks
  • Enlarged pores that make the surface look uneven
  • Make-up that sits unevenly or settles into texture
  • Sun-damaged, slightly thickened skin

When to see a specialist first

  • Active, inflamed acne: treat it first, see acne treatment
  • Raised, itchy or spreading bumps, which may be a skin condition such as dermatitis or rosacea and need medical diagnosis
  • Deep scars from injury or keloid tendency: discuss with a dermatologist first
Causes

What makes skin texture uneven

1

Acne scars

Past inflammation leaves dips and pits in the skin.

2

Enlarged pores

Oil, ageing and lost firmness stretch pore openings.

3

Sun damage

UV thickens the surface and breaks down collagen.

4

Collagen loss

A thinner dermis gives the surface less support.

  2. Choosing treatments. Resurfacing for scars and roughness, boosters for collagen and repair.
  3. Preparation. Cleansing and numbing cream for comfort.
  4. Treatment. Fraxel, microneedling or Mirajet-delivered Juvelook Skin, often with Rejuran.
  5. Course. Most plans run 3–5 sessions about 3–4 weeks apart, with Instagram follow-up.

Aftercare

  • Expect mild redness or small bumps for 1–3 days
  • Use gentle cleanser and moisturiser only for a few days
  • Apply SPF 50 daily, especially after resurfacing
  • Avoid exfoliants and retinoids until the skin settles

Possible side effects

Redness, swelling and small injection marks are common and short-lived. Resurfacing lasers can cause a few days of redness and flaking, and post-inflammatory pigment is possible in darker skin. Our doctors explain risks for your skin type.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best treatment for uneven skin texture?

It depends on the cause. Juvelook Skin and Rejuran suit fine texture and repair, while Fraxel and microneedling suit scars. Many patients do best with a combination.

How much does texture treatment cost?

Mirajet Forte Juvelook Skin 3cc is ₩450,000 per session and Zero-Bruise Rejuran 2cc is ₩300,000, VAT excluded. Laser resurfacing is priced at consultation.

How many sessions do I need?

Most patients need 3–5 sessions about 3–4 weeks apart. Collagen builds gradually, so improvement continues for months.

Is there downtime?

Boosters usually cause 1–3 days of mild redness or bumps. Fraxel can cause several days of redness and flaking.

Can I start on a short trip?

Yes. Many patients have one session per visit to Seoul. Tell us your dates so we plan around downtime.

Will texture come back?

Treated scars stay improved, but ageing and sun continue. Sunscreen and occasional maintenance help keep results.
